Welcome Fellow GAHIMA Members,
It is an honor and pleasure to have the opportunity to lead, serve, and
give back to the Greater Atlanta Health Information Management
Association! This is an association that is highly geared towards
shooting for the stars and rising to the top.
We are the largest, trailblazing, regional health information management
association in the state of Georgia. How awesome is that? It’s all
because of you! Together, we have made great strides. We have kept our
vision goal- focused, and continued to walk in greatness. We put the
great in Greater! Our name is synonymous with excellence, innovation,
honor, integrity, and outstanding quality and service. This is a direct
result of our past efforts and dedication to the health information
management profession.
This is a journey where we will continue to volunteer, explore, embrace,
promote new ideas, and opportunities. This means that we get it! Let us
seize the moment to unite and share a common purpose at the heart of
interest (giving back). Our student members are our future HIM
professionals. Our goal is to continue to expand our member-base
exponentially. We will work harder to cultivate the grassroots efforts
that will highlight our exposure with our professional alliances.
Our mission is to provide practical, fulfilling, and ongoing education
to our members. I encourage you to prepare yourselves to be challenged,
excited, and inspired. These are the goals I know we all share- the full
development of personal and professional growth. It is our duty to
remind ourselves and others just how important our work is.
The GAHIMA 2010-2011 Board of Directors will continue to take action to
strategically plan towards ensuring an educationally sound and
innovative future for our professional association. Even more
importantly, you will have to take action to further your knowledge,
skills, and abilities. It is our motivation and the members’ motivation
that will help create a year that is bright with embraced opportunities.
Let us turn indifference into motivated, helpful action. Together, we
can make this a reality.
I want to personally invite each one of you on this journey. I am
extremely excited to be a part of an organization that cares about the
work we do. Let us continue to rise to the top, because the bottom is
too crowded.
Respectfully,
Latunya A. Henderson, MBA, RHIA
President, GAHIMA 2010-2011
